Mike Shaughnessy joined Career Resources in 1998 to direct the client services program for the firm's growing
base of corporate customers.
A human resource professional with over 30 years experience in
outplacement, recruitment, and training and development,
Mr. Shaughnessy understands the career management needs of both the
corporation and the individual in transition.
Mr. Shaughnessy served for over 15 years as a senior professional
services consultant with two international outplacement and career
management firms. He provided human resource consulting services for
manufacturing, research and development, retail, distribution,
publishing and not-for-profit industries.
Mr. Shaughnessy spent 20 years of his career in corporate human resources with three Fortune 500
companies: Nortel (formerly Northern Telecom), General Motors Corp. and Dresser Industries. During his corporate career, he managed employee and labor
relations, professional recruitment and outplacement, college recruitment and training and development. He also developed and directed several downsizing
activities which involved thousands of employees, from production personnel through senior level executives.
Mr. Shaughnessy holds an MBA and B.S. in Business Administration from
Wayne State University in Detroit and has served as an officer in
numerous professional associations. An alumnus of Leadership
Brentwood, he is actively involved in civic and community
organizations and has served on the Board of Directors of the
Brentwood Chamber of Commerce, and the Association of Career
Professionals International, Tennessee Chapter.
Originally from Michigan, Mr. Shaughnessy has lived in the Nashville
area for 25 years. He and his wife live in Brentwood, a suburb of
Nashville.
